Over 80 Unclaimed Bikes Removed

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

Update from RMG 16 Dec 2020

RMG Property Manager, Toby Felton, reported at the December meeting that over 80 unclaimed bikes (and parts of bikes) have been removed from the RCY bike stores. These will be kept in a secure place for a period before permanent disposal.

Residents are advised that if they have not yet identified their bikes with an RMG sticker (see below), they should contact RMG as soon as possible with a description of their bike, so that it can be identified and returned to them.

RMG informs us that unclaimed bikes which were removed from the Officers Quarters (Phase A) bike stores last year, have been donated to Bicycle Recycling, (owned by local charity, Motiv8). Bicycle Recycling offers bike sales and repairs, maintenance courses as well as training and education opportunities for young people. It employs qualified mechanics who work alongside apprentices, trainees and volunteers; with more than half the paid staff being young people.

Update from RMG 19 Nov 2020

Following the previous communication (5 Nov 2020), RMG has now issued a Torts Notice on any unclaimed bikes or other property left in the RCY Bike Stores. This is a legal notice to warn that unclaimed bikes which haven't been claimed/identified with the small sticker provided by RMG (see below), will be removed after 21 days of the Notice.

If you have a bike in any of the RCY bike stores which you have not yet identified to RMG (with the sticker or by other means outlined in the letter and Torts Notice), we strongly advise you to do so as soon as possible.

Previous information & how to identify your bike

Property Managers, RMG, have written to residents and leaseholders to advise that they are commencing a site-wide tidy up and clear-out of abandoned bikes in the various RCY bike stores.

Residents are asked to identify their bikes with a small sticker provided by RMG by Thurs, 19th November. A couple of stickers were included in the letter-box drop. If anyone needs more stickers or has any difficulty getting to RCY to identify their bikes by the deadline, they are asked to contact RMG by e-mail (royalclarence@rmguk.com) as soon as possible with a description of the bike(s) and location, so that stickers can be placed on them for you.

Any queries or for further information, please contact RMG.
